Top security operatives and Information Technology experts will brainstorm on innovative strategies towards tackling cybercrimes among youths in Nigeria, at a virtual conference, next Saturday.
Country Representative, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime(UNODC), Dr. Oliver Stolpe is the keynote speaker.
The event, which has as its theme: ‘Tackling Cybercrime among Youths in Nigeria,’ will feature prominent legal luminaries, law enforcement officials and notable development proponents. It is scheduled for Saturday 17, October 2020.
The focus of this conference is germane, due to the escalation of crime and violence, exacerbated by COVID-19 pandemic across society, hence the urgent need to battle the menace concertedly.
Its primary objective is to equip young citizens with appropriate tools and information, to enable them to shun cyber-related crimes and embrace a more responsible lifestyle.
The discourse is being spearheaded by award-winning multi-digital journalist and Fellow of Hubert H. Humphrey(HHH) Fellowship, as well as affiliated organizations.
Stolpe holds a PhD in Law and has been implementing projects, for UNODC in Nigeria, since 2001.
He has also served the organization in multiple functions, including, as Chief for supporting Member States in the effective implementation of Convention against Corruption, manager of UNODC’s Programme for Implementation of the Doha Declaration and senior advisor at Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative.
The summit supported by the Association for Peace and Development Initiative(APDI), has as the moderator Mr Soni Irabor, an accomplished broadcaster and advertising practitioner.
Assistant Commissioner of Police(ACP) Monday Agbonika and Founder of APDI and Public Health Physician, Dr. Godson Uwaoma are some of the eminent speakers.
Other partners are Africa Vision Tract House Society(AVTHS), Flood and Erosion Services Ltd, as well as Chief and Mrs. Nelson Nwosu and Flood and Erosion Services Ltd.
